It hasn't rained in years. Weatherman says it will today. The river in my backyard is more like a desert graveyard. Hard-pan Earth, cracked like a broken mirror. It's cracked again. A metro for the lizards. A Mecca for all that crawls.
Earth and sky, will they ever leave me alone?
Rain finally comes, falling like shards of glass. It hurts more than it heals, like learning how not to love. It washes away nightmares and dreams alike. Wash them away again. Excitement surges through me. Don't think I've ever been so afraid. I'm so afraid now.
Earth and sky, will they ever leave me alone? Live and die in this wasteland that we call home. Earth and sky, will they ever leave me alone? Live and die in this wasteland that we call home.
The river runs again.
Earth and sky, will they ever leave me alone? Live and die in this wasteland that we call home.
