Ok, so I've finally decided to start uploading video game soundtracks to my channel. Collecting VG soundtracks is one of my greatest passions, and there's some seriously fantastic music there that I'd like to share with the world (even though I don't have the rights to do so. But then again - who DOES, here on youtube? ;) )
I've decided NOT to join the 'me too!' ranks by uploading the music for well-known games (such as Assassin's Creed, or Skyrim, etc.), instead I'll focus on the 'underdog' and upload some rare and 'obscure' soundtracks that you'll hardly find anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love those 'fancy' soundtracks as well (and Jesper Kyd and Jeremy Soule are my most favorite composers), but internet is swamped with them, and there's really no need for yet ANOTHER person to upload them on it.
Also, there's so much great music in these not-so-well-known games, but people are missing out on it because they're being 'ignorant' playing only high-profile AAA video games. So I've decided to try and do something about it ;).
I'm starting off with the 'Return To Mysterious Island' soundtrack, cause, not only it's from a really great game, but also because it's great itself, and is one of my most favorite game soundtracks in general (it's got that quality where I can listen to it over and over again, and never get tired of it). The music was composed by Yan Volsy, and the game was made by the French developer Kheops. I used to look forward to their games a lot, they were good and fun. But mostly I looked forward to Yan's new music :). But then Kheops discontinued working with him (for whatever reason), and not long after that they also dropped the whole 'point & click adventure' act, in favor of more accessible and probably a lot less expensive 'casual games' (and sadly, a lot smaller in scope). They weren't bad, but after a few titles Kheops seem to have dropped that as well, and disappeared completely from the game scene. The link to their official site is dead. Pity.
Anyway, so here's the first song from the RTMI soundtrack. Enjoy :).
P.S. To all you gamers out there who play only action games and shooters, and think that point & click adventure games are lame and boring, I have but one thing to say - your loss! You're missing out on something really great and enjoyable. But hey, at least you can enjoy this fantastic music that I've uploaded here ;)...
