Kankri: Oh, you’re starting to wake up. Shhh, shhh. It’s alright. Here’s a heated blanket. You’re in my hive. Everything’s going to be fine.
Kankri: I wouldn’t struggle too much. You’ve had a terrible, terrible accident. It’s lucky I found you, or you might not have made it! Your body is covered in bruises. I don’t think anyone took note of the car that hit you. I tried, but…well, it just sped away so fast.
Kankri: Please, stop that.
Kankri: Of course, I did exactly what I thought would be best, and brought you straight here! I’m a medical student, you know. That’s why there’s all this extensive equipment set up in my hive. I just want to help people.
Kankri: I especially want to help you.
Kankri: You know, I’ve spent a lot of time admiring you recently. Remember those notes I sent you? You said they were very sweet, and we even went on a date a couple months ago, do you remember? Please tell me you do…
Kankri: (Expression melts into a beatific smile) I’m so glad you remember! Why did we ever fall out of contact? I mean, I know we were both very busy people at the time, and maybe we had a few differences, but…I really thought we could be much closer.
Kankri: I care about you so much, that is. It’s strange, right? To care about someone so deeply, so soon… well, that’s part of why I brought you here!
Kankri: I just…may I confess something? This is a bit forward, and I really want to be considerate of your feelings as well. Everything from this point onward needs to be completely consensual and reciprocated, after all! It’s only right.
Kankri: Oh! That’s right. We can’t really maintain a positive and constructive dialogue with that tape over your mouth, now can we? Allow me to remove it. This might sting a bit, but I’ll be quick, I promise…
Kankri: Shhh, shhh, shhh!
Kankri: There’s no need to cause a fuss. That wasn’t painful at all, and I’m sure you’re aware of that. Don’t try to make me feel guilty about this. I’m just trying to help you.
Kankri: I considered bringing you to a hospital but –
Kankri: (Coldly) Please don’t interrupt me. It’s not very becoming of you.
Kankri: As I was saying, I could take you to a hospital, but you know how those can be. Expensive; long wait times; the high chance of becoming infected by a fellow patient. In addition to that, not every doctor is trustworthy. Some of them are downright problematic. No, I couldn’t put my faith in them – not in regard to you.
Kankri: You see, as I wanted to confess beforehand, and…well, this really is difficult to say. I haven’t been in this position many times – meaning, I’ve never really, truly felt so strongly about another person. It’s just that…I love you. I love you so much. I knew it from the moment we first spoke. From the moment I heard your voice! I simply knew. We’re perfect for each other.
Kankri: I won’t ask you to feel the same way in return if you don’t. I just wanted you to know. I…needed you to know. This feeling is just so intense. So, you must understand now. I’m the best caretaker you could possibly have! I care the most.
Kankri: I care much more about you than anyone else in your life. I mean, I understand why they all adore you, I really do. Especially that one person you’ve been seeing more and more often. I understand. You’re just trying to find happiness.
Kankri: But you just don’t understand. I can be your happiness. I’ll prove it to you right here! I’ll fix you. You’ll feel amazing once I’m done, I promise. Then you’ll see how much I care, and we can be together.
Kankri: But first…and… (he sighs; a martyr) this is another difficult topic to broach.
Kankri: You see…I need to punish you for your transgressions. You could have made more time for me, like you did for those other people. You could have, but you purposefully didn’t – you avoided me…denied my feelings…denied what could have existed between us.
