Q: Do you have a pet?
Yes, I have a dog.
Q: What is its name?
His name is Pluto.
Q: How old is he?
He is four years old . He is a Beagle.
Q: How does this breed look like?
He looks kind of like a Basset Hound. Well, you could say, that a Basset is a caricature of a Beagle. He's a little taller, and his ears aren't as long, but it's basically the same color.
Q: What about his character?
He's very calm. He doesn't bark, unless he sees another dog or unless my mom tells him to, that she does a lot. He sleeps alone, he is very nice. He's a really great dog.
Q: Who does your dog consider his master?
I think that my dog is his own master. He does whatever he wants. He walks around. I mean, I don't know, who he thinks is his master, but I consider him to be a member of the family.
Q: Do you think you are his master?
It was a birthday present to me. I could say that I am.
Q: Who walks him, I mean who takes him for a walk?
He doesn't really care, who does it, but I think, a lot of the time, when I'm at school, and when my dad is at work, my mom has to do it. In the evening we take turns, we switch around. On Saturdays and Sundays in the mornings usually I do it. Sometimes we all go together.
Q: Are pets popular in America?
They are very popular in America A lot of people have either dogs or cats, may be, more exotic creatures.
Q: For example?
Reptiles, iguanas. Sometimes snakes, hamsters, may be.
Q: Isn't it too dangerous to have a snake at home?

Well, they don't let the snake wander around the house, they put it in a cage or in a tank. Basically people don't keep huge snakes like pythons, but you can have a small snake, sitting in a cage.

Crocodiles? I don't know of anybody, that has a crocodile as a pet, but my dad caught a crocodile in a lake once, which is a very interesting story. You wouldn't think, there'd be a crocodile in Northern Virginia. It's impossible, that there would be one, because it's too cold in the winter. But one time in May several years ago my mom saw... She was walking around the lake, there is a park close to our house. She saw a crocodile, sitting on the shore of a river, really small one, about two, two and a half feet in length. She walked up to it, she thought, she was going insane, she didn't know what's going on. May be, she thought it was a toy, when she came up to it, it jumped into the water and swam away.
Q: How did the family react to your mother's story?

When my mother told us, that she saw a crocodile near the lake, we all thought that she wasn't in her right mind, we thought, she was going crazy, because it's very unlikely that there'd be a crocodile. But then we went ourselves, and we saw it there. We took the picture of it, of course. The first thing, that my dad said, when he saw it, that he's gonna catch it. He said, 'What else that I come to America for, if not to catch crocodiles?'. We visited it several times in the course of a week, I think. And we even called a news station.
Q: Oh, it's interesting!
It was a small news station. They came over to the lake, and... with hopes they'd see it, but they didn't really see it, so, they just... they said that it was on the loose. Then one day my dad and his friend from work, they went over to the lake, and at first they tried to catch it with a lasso, made out of a shoelace. Obviously that didn't work at all. Then they bought a large fishing net. They tried to chase it around, my dad had to jump into the water, and... swam after it for a while. Then he caught it by the tail, he dragged it into the net. The crocodile even bit my dad in several places.
Q: Did they finally succeed in catching that crocodile?
