Save me, O God, for the water have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. Fear and trembling have beset me, horror has overwhelmed me. I am worn out calling for help, my throat is parched. My heart is in anguish with me; the terrors of death assail me.
Many are my enemies without cause; those who seek to destroy me. They sharpen their tongues like swords, and aim their words like deadly arrows. When they draw the bow, let their arrows be blunted. O Lord, how many are my foes! But You are a shield around me, O Lord; You bestow glory on me.
I cry aloud, and He answers me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me.
