During the succession war of Brittany, duke Jean IV of Montfort, said Jean le Conquéreur (1339-1399 ), ally of the british against his opponent Charles de Blois, had been chased away by the king of France Charles V, friend of de Blois, and by the Breton chiefs who disliked the british influence. But, when Charles V tried to annex Britanny to France after the death of de Blois in spite of the rights of Montfort, all the Bretons asked for his comeback : and so, on August 3rd, 1379, he landed to Dinard to reclaim the throne of Brittany.
