Justin James scores with release number four for SCI+TEC, as he returns to the label with the much anticipated follow up to last years excellent ‘Planned Deviation’. His new double-header is the latest sure shot from the Canadian who has also released his music on Minus, Octopus and Form Music.

‘Vaguely Obscure’ edges from the darkness with its bubbling synth line and haunting chime, both underpinned and driven by a thudding kick-drum and piercing claps.

An equally ghostly bell rings on ‘Versus’ signals its intention, as its purring, understated bassline and trapped-in-a-moment ‘wasted’ vocal, creates an almost fearsome soundtrack. Handle with care.
