Everything about the new KAITO release on Kompakt is evocative of a certain mood. From the stark, elemental photography on the cover (taken by Watanabe himself) to the Badalementiesque synths that open b-side 'Behind My Life' the release is evocative of a certain type of brooding mood, leavened with lightness.

Kaito is the recording name of Hiroshi Watanabe, who has been quietly making some of the best music to come out on Kompakt in the last decade. A graduate of the Berklee College of music, Watanabe released many records under his own name on a variety of labels such as Nite Grooves Third Ear and Deeper Rekords all the while developing a unique sound under the Kaito alias.
