Maran Mahon is the victory dance of the Tangkhul Nagas of Manipur Hills. Not too long ago this dance was performed when the victorious Tangkhul fighters returned home with the heads of their fur men to the welcoming feast in the village. Nowadays, Maran Mahon is danced during after-harvest festivals and other social ceremonies. The dance is accompanied by tingtella and a chorus. The tingteila player stands in the centre at the dancers, singing the chorus, form a circle around him. The up and down strokes of the bow of the tingteila mark the time of the steps. Music and dance by members of the Tangkhul Naga community of village Tuinem, Manipur Hills.
