The contemplated scene has a lot of emotional weight. Artanis and Zeratul once activated the Xel'Naga Temple together in BW. Now Artanis stands alone, without Zeratul, in a desperate bid to overload that same temple. One might feel loneliness when confronted with the memory of this place. Artanis must be thinking of Zeratul in that moment of apparent despair. Separated from the Khala, from his mentor, facing overwhelming odds, his despair must be even deeper.
Artanis grew in the shadow of his mentor Tassadar and learned to never give up from Zeratul but ultimately he found his strength in the examples of sacrifice of the two protoss he admired most: Zeratul and Tassadar. As he is overwhelmed by the Zerg, Artanis remembers the words of his last mentor, and understands that despite being isolated, there is great pride to be found in fighting in such a state...
