Preview: On this show we talked about how we are going to be spending Christmas and some of the seasonal traditions in America and Britain, as well as some slang expressions about money.

Boxing Day (in the UK) 26th December: so-called because upper classes use to give boxes of goods (leftovers) to the poor on the day after Christmas in Victorian times.

First, we tried to answer a question from Ef about the usage of the words “girlfriend” and “boyfriend”.
Basically, you can use these words to describe someone you are having a romantic or intimate relationhip with. However, girls in America, but increasingly in the UK too, say “girlfriends” to mean their friends who are girls. Men do not use this term. So girls might say:
e.g., “I’m going out with my girlfriends tonight”. But men would not really say this.
